What is Universal Control?

Universal Control is the name of Apple’s new feature that allows you to use your iPhone as a second display, so you can use apps on your iPhone that are displayed on your iPad.

Universal Control is the new control center for iPhones, iPads, Apple TVs and HomePods, bringing together device and content settings in one centralized place. It is the first time that a major update has been announced with a specific release date and features.

Universal Control is still in the early stages of development. So expect to encounter a few hiccups as we get started. And note that the feature isn’t currently working on every device. But it’s great news that Universal Control is finally available on the 2016 and 2017 models of the MacBook Pro!

MacBook, Macbook Air, and iMac are now all models of the MacBook Pro. The 5K iMac has been discontinued and the 27-inch Retina iMac is still available, but the base model is a 2.3 GHz quad core CPU and 8 GB RAM.

iMac Pro. Mac Mini (2018 and later). Mac Pro (2019.. iPad Pro. iPad Air (third generation and later).

Can I use Face ID with masks?

The Face ID feature in the iPhone has been updated to be usable on the iPhone 12 and newer models even while wearing a mask.

Because Face ID uses a smaller part of your face to authenticate you, you’ll need to be more precise about the angle at which you hold your phone when using Face ID.

Your phone will even alert you if you need to look at the screen more attentively. The revised feature should work for persons who wear glasses, but it will not work for people who use sunglasses. To accomplish this, we must adjust the code that processes the photo.

What new emoji are included?

If you’re the kind of person who prides himself/herself on creative and fun emoji use, you’re going to love iOS.

These were revealed last fall, and also included a melting face, a face holding back tears, a bird’s nest, coral, a lotus, a low battery and kidney beans.

Other iOS 15.4 features

The OS update also brought some new security-focused improvements to the popular AirTags, which were recently in the news for stalking purposes. These improvements included new options to change the emergency call shortcut from a default to allowing for five press calls and removing the AirTags’ ability to access your location if you’re not present.

The Hold-and-Press option on the side and volume buttons remain enabled by default. But the update includes some other changes that were previously only available to users with a paid subscription.

One of the new features Apple has added in iOS 12 is the ability to use the camera to take notes or record voice memos. Developers will have to update their apps to accommodate this, so don’t get too excited just yet. However, the ability to copy text from the camera will be an awesome tool for people who love to take selfies and add photos or quotes to them.
