1. Thunderbolt 4 Dock by OWC

The OWC Thunderbolt Dock, which my colleague Jeff Benjamin tested earlier this year. This is one of the more important improvements to my system.

The OWC Thunderbolt Dock comes with 4 Thunderbolt 4 ports with up to 40Gb/s transfer speeds, four USB-A ports, an SD card slot, a 3.5mm audio connector, and powerline networking in my configuration. The dock is mounted to the underside of my desk, hidden and out of the way while still being accessible.

The OWC Thunderbolt 4 dock isn’t as beneficial with the new Mac Studio as it was with my 14-inch MacBook Pro in clamshell configuration. That’s because the Mac Studio comes with its own set of adaptable ports.

This OWC dock, on the other hand, is a terrific option. If you’re wanting to free up ports on the Mac Studio itself. It’s also great for clearing up your desk and keeping the back of the Mac Studio as cable-free as possible. If you’re ordering from OWC. I also recommend their Thunderbolt 4 cable, which is substantially less expensive than Apple’s.

2. Touch ID-enabled Magic Keyboard

You’re losing out if you’re using an Apple Silicon-powered Mac and haven’t added a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID to your setup. It’s a game changer to finally be able to use Touch ID on a desktop Mac. This includes using Apple Pay, using password managers, and purchasing apps from the App Store.

Of course, this implies you must be satisfied with Apple’s Magic Keyboard’s form factor and design, which isn’t the case for everyone. I’m still hoping for a standalone “Magic Button” with Touch ID from Apple at some point, but for now, this will have to suffice.

3. The Magical Bridge

Twelve South, a prominent accessory business, offers a very helpful MagicBridge device that combines the Magic Keyboard and a Magic Trackpad. The MagicBridge merges the Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad into a “one-piece control surface that conveniently coordinates your workspace.”

Although you lose some of the flexibility of being able to move your trackpad about on your desk. I like the single-piece design in my setup. I use a Logitech MX Master in conjunction with my Magic Trackpad so that I can move the MX Master around as needed and have a neat setup that integrates my Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad due to the Magic Bridge.

4. Deck of Streams

I’ll write a separate tale about this later, but I’ve recently added a Stream Deck to my Mac’s setup. I’m still figuring out how to use the Stream Deck. B ut I’m currently utilising it for Mac automation and smart home management.

4. Leather Desk Mat

Last but not least, the Satechi Eco-Leather Deskmate is maybe the most frequently asked about accessory I feature in product images. A leather desk mat to contain my keyboard and trackpad is purely aesthetic addition to my setup. It’s made of high-quality eco-leather and is designed to protect your desk while also providing a pleasant area for your feet to rest.
